Is Sugar Making You Sluggish, Overweight, Unhappy, Weak & Powerless?

Is Sugar Making You Sluggish, Overweight, Unhappy, Weak & Powerless?

I’d like to invite you to chat about a very sweet topic indeed – SUGAR.

Why? Because the sugar conversation is one we’ve been seriously discussing over in the Code to Wellness Facebook community. By the way, if you’d like to join us over there, Click Here

I’ll be the first to raise my hand and say my relationship with sugar and sweet foods was absolute crap.

Back when I was a personal trainer, I used to have the kind of relationship with sugar where I would binge on ice cream, tell myself I was a bad person for giving into my sugar cravings (I felt like a weakling), and then punish myself for it later by exercising like a mad woman. WTF?! I know. Not cool.

Before all of that, I used to have the type of relationship with sugar where I didn’t even know just what it was doing to me or my body. I would eat strawberry frosted Pop-Tarts from the vending machine for lunch (ya, that would be my entire lunch!) and then wonder why I was so damn hyper for all of 10 minutes and later so exhausted that I couldn’t even finish my homework without falling asleep over my books.

I worked really hard on changing my relationship with sweet foods, sugar and carbs over the last few years and, now, thankfully me + sweets + sugar + carbs have the type of relationship I’ve always wanted. I’m no longer a slave to my cravings and instead, I choose to eat sugar and sweets, on occasion. It’s usually something I make at home, from ingredients that won’t force my blood sugar levels out of whack.

Wow. Ok, that was all a little hard to admit (sign of relief) but if it helps anyone of you to know you’re not alone, then I’m grateful for that and even more glad that I shared. If this is you, you CAN work through this and come out on the other side!

Anyway, what I really wanted to share with you was some interesting research I conducted over in my FB group a few months back.

I surveyed 45 people on the topic of  ‘How you want to feel in your body’. And, do you know what we found? Well, the people who felt really negatively ABOUT their bodies and uncomfortable in their bodies also had a seriously negative relationship and/or addiction to sugar.

Just check out the results to the following two questions below!

1) How do you feel in your body now?
2) What is your relationship with sweet foods?

Here’s what they ACTUALLY said!

How you really feel in your own skin

1) How do you feel in your body now?

  • Sluggish
  • Uncomfortable
  • Heavy
  • Unhappy
  • Tired & Fatigued
  • Stuck
  • Bloated
  • Cluttered
  • Awkward
  • Disconnected

It pains me that sooo many people who took the survey feel this way, but that’s only the first half of it! Look what they said about their relationship to sugar and sweet foods.

2) What is your relationship with sweet foods?

  • I cannot resist them
  • It’s my downfall
  • I intensely crave it
  • I love them
  • I have a love/hate relationship with them
  • I have a huge sweet tooth
  • I binge on it
  • I get helpless and weak around sugar
  • I run straight to it when I’m stressed
  • I have to get my fix
  • It makes my stomach hurt
  • I especially crave them after a meal
  • It affects my mood & energy levels negatively

FASCINATING, AIN’T IT?

This REALLY got me thinking about how I could help those of you who find themselves in this same ‘sugar-and-sweet-cravings-boat’ who are totally just sick & tired:

  • Of riding the sugar-high-roller-coaster
  • Of being the person who has to hit snooze 3x before getting out of bed because they’ve NEVER got ANY ENERGY
  • Of being a slave to their out of control cravings that beg for a desert after every meal
  • Of having to reach for the candy bowl after lunchtime just to make it through the end of the day
  • Of being the person who just goes with the flow and eats cake or ice cream just because everyone else around them (kids, family, friends) is doing it even though it give them a stomach ache and serious heart palpitations afterward
  • Of living in fear of contracting Type II Diabetes that’s taken over the lives of their loved ones

And so, I’ve decided to dive, head-on, into the sugar conversation over in the Code to Wellness Community with all the people who took the survey + you, right now!

If this is you, if this HAS been you, or if you know someone who fits this description, join us in the conversations happening over HERE, RIGHT NOW so you can reach that moment when sugar is finally irrelevant in your life and no longer causing you to feel sluggish, overweight, unhappy, weak and powerless in your own skin.

Can’t wait to see you there!
