As I was going through the Code to Wellness website the other day and doing a little spring cleaning throughout the blog posts that are up, I realized that there was only one protein smoothie post.
“What the heck! How can that be?!” were the thoughts that ran through my mind and apparently out my mouth (it was kind of hilarious…I didn’t mean to say it out load and ended up surprising my own self 😛 huge nerd moment…). It was especially odd because I feel like all I’ve been doing lately is drinking protein smoothies. I walked into my Dermatologists’ office for a routine check-up and when he offered the chance to do a Xymogen’s 6-Day-Detox I jumped at it (because, ya know, that’s kinda my thing!).
Anyways, I have a backlog of protein smoothie recipes I’ve just been itching to share with you guys. I picked out this one out from the bunch because a) it’s flipping great b) it has avocado in it c) it requires no external sweetener of any kind d) it’s a pretty minty green color e) it’s full of healthy saturated and monounsaturated fat from the coconut milk + the avocado (most smoothies only focus on the fruit and the protein content…not this one!) f) it’s not one of those watery smoothies that you look at and think, “Man…what can I add in to thicken this thing up?”, because it’s exactly how a smoothie should be – thick, creamy and full-bodied.
