Satuday | 1 PM – 4 PM
I once asked a friend sitting next to me (we were working out of a Starbucks) what she thought of when she heard the word ‘back’ and this is what she answered:
“…Gah!”, I said to her. That’s awful L You want to know what I think of when I hear the word ‘back’?
-pull-ups and pulling motions
…I know! It’s the polar opposite!
I hate to be the bearer of doom and gloom, but more people would be in agreement with my friend about the spine being and issue-laden, structural, aging mess.
However, this is a NON-TRUTH.
Your spine is amazing! And, it’s not set in stone that it will become decrepit as you age. That’s a backwards thought which has become a cultural norm here, within a primarily sedentary culture. But, it is not the norm and countless cultures around the world can readily give you an example of people of all ages, young and old, with fabulously functional and pain-free spines.
In fact, your back houses a whole host of muscles like the lats (latissimus dorsi), huge + superficial muscles responsible for helping you pull your body up over a bar (like in a pull-up) or for holding something over your head, like a small child (you know, when you’re playing around). Or, like the multifidus, a small yet SUPER powerful muscle that runs all the length of the vertebral column stabilizing it and creating space between the disks and is especially important in back bending movements like bow and camel pose, as well as, side bending poses like triangle and side angle pose.
I’m looking to change the way you think about the spine completely and instead give you the tools to make it stable, strong, endurant, pain-free and super solid.
In this workshop, you’ll learn:
-the signs of a ‘back spasm’ in the making
-how to stack your ribs and pelvis so that you DON’T end up with a ‘back spasm’ in the making
-how to hold your spine upright with your hamstrings + glutes (instead of your spine)
-how to twist and rotate for spinal health
-the simplest exercise you can do absolutely anywhere to decompress your spine
-how to build TRUE spinal stability + strength into your yoga practice
Basically, you’ll learn the tools you need to evaluate your spinal health + a Super Solid Spine.
Just come. It’ll be awesome and you’re back will actually, FINALLY learn how to ‘have your back’. I know, I’m hilarious (maybe).
